I am very curious about the relationship between the UAE and the world Jewish community. Frank Gehry is a Jew designing a museum with many Jewish artists, built by a prominent Jewish Family in a muslim dictatorship which prevents entry to anyone who has Israel visas in their passports. When I was working in Dubai, I could not even make a phonecall out to friends in Tel Aviv, nor visit certain Jewish websites. So, it seems to me that the muslim rulers/owners of this opportunistic country will bend their rules if it involves profits and publicity on the one hand, but would continue to abuse workers and accept anti-semitism on the other. Why would this great museum want to locate here, when there are many other great cities in the world that would welcome Jewish tourists with open arms.
