Following the string of suicides by maids in Lebanon, Nepal’s Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) announced its decision to stop granting permissions for women to work in Lebanon as domestic worker. Nepal News reported that the Nepali recruitment agencies, which were supposed to build shelters for their workers and check on their condition by calling them twice a month, did not comply with their commitments to the Nepalese government.
