Indian worker burns himself alive in the third suicide by migrant workers in Bahrain in a week

On January 21, 2010

An Indian worker set himself on fire at a labor camp in Bahrain, the Gulf Daily News reported this week. The man, Suresh Ravi, 22, locked himself in a room and then poured gasoline on himself and set himself on fire. He was found with burns covering his entire body in a room that was completely destroyed by the fire. The cause for the desperate act is unclear, but it seems that Suresh had financial difficulties and couldn't provide for his family back home.

This is the third reported case of suicide by migrant workers in Bahrain last week. As we've previously reported, in separate incidents Two Ethiopian maids committed suicide that week by drinking detergent.
