Unpaid workers set fire to buses in Saudi Arabia

Workers of the Binladen group, one of the largest employers in Saudi Arabia, set fire to buses in Mecca province. Over 50,000 workers have been laid-off and asked to return to their home countries without pay.

There is little room for protests or strikes in the GCC. However, 2014 saw a new trend of workers protesting maltreatment and abuse.
