Indonesia Slaps Ban on Nationals Working in Kuwait, Saudi

On November 4, 2009

The Indonesian government has imposed a ban on its nationals working in Kuwait and Saudi due to rampant abuse of migrant workers by their employers, according to this story in Arabian Business. Indonesia is to repatriate 1750 nationals working in the two Gulf countries next week 'for their own good' following reports that they have been unfairly treated.

According to some reports there are 2 million Indonesians working in the Gulf, mostly in low-skilled, low-paid jobs.
