Kuwait Society for Human Rights launches hotline & e-platform for expat workers

On July 14, 2017

The Kuwait Society for Human Rights (KSHR) has launched a hotline for expatriate workers to submit complaints and understand their legal rights. The hotline 22215150 is available in Arabic, Arabic, English, Filipino, Hindi and Urdu.  So far, over 800 inquiries have been made on issues ranging from passport confiscation, transfer of sponsorship, owed wages, and contract violations. The complaints are managed by a team of legal experts, which helps to fill an important gap in low-income workers' access to the exclusionary legal system.

KSHR also launched an e-platform togetherkw.org for migrant workers available in the same languages. The website feature cartoons illustrating the rights of migrant workers in common situations they face and the accompanying app allows workers to submit questions via instant messaging.
