Twenty Nepalese migrant workers were left stranded in the desert after their company refused to return their passports.  The company offered the workers a fraction of their promised salary and refused overtime pay or food allowances. The workers were also owed three months of back pay. Their attempts to pursue legal action against the company were futile, as the company did not legally exist.
