Two bodies of Asian migrant workers were found in Kuwait this week, Arab Times reported recently. In the first case, a Nepalese man in his 40s was found dead in the apartment he rented in Abbassiya. His body was taken to the Forensic Department to determine the cause of death. In a second case, a 38-year-old Sri Lankan man hanged himself to death in his room. His body was found by his sponsor and taken to the Forensic Department as well.
The paper also reported about a Nepalese maid who attempted to escape her recruitment agency’s mistreatment by jumping from the second floor of an apartment building in Farwaniya. She suffered several fractures and injuries and was taken to a hospital.
These deaths conclude a bloody month for migrant workers in Kuwait. Prior to these incidents, since October 27 there have been at least 10 reported cases of suicide or suicide attempts by migrants in Kuwait.
