Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi: Guggenheim Breaks Off Negotiations with Gulf Labor

On April 24, 2016

The Guggenheim Board of Trustees unilaterally severed negotiations with the Gulf Labor Coalition (GLC). In a conference call, the Guggenheim informed GLC that they will no longer meet with us, nor listen to our proposals about the living and working conditions of the workers who are and will be building museums in Abu Dhabi.

Gulf Labor is a coalition of international artists working to ensure that migrant worker rights are protected during the construction of museums on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

Here is the full statement from Gulf Labor and timeline.
