Two Bangladeshi men went on trial in Dubai yesterday for kidnapping two Filipino maids, gang-raping one of them and trying to force them into prostitution, Khaleej Times reported today.

The housemaids were walking around Abu Dhabi when three Bangladeshi men pulled up next to them in a car and forced them in. The men drove them to a house in Dubai where three Indonesian women, who worked as prostitutes for the men, were present. After two days of holding the women captive, two of the men entered the room where the maids were kept, and tried to rape one of them. She managed to scare them away with a kitchen knife that she had hidden. The other maid wasn't able to resist the two men when they held her forcibly and raped her one after the other.

The women were rescued after the first maid called her sister in Saudi Arabia, using the phone of one of the Indonesian women. The sister then called the police in Dubai.
