Runaway suffers miscarriage at shelter

A distressed Filipina worker at the Philippine embassy shelter shocked officials on Thursday evening when she miscarried.
Fellow inmates first thought the worker, a woman in thirties, was bleeding because of some illness till they realised that she had a miscarriage. A doctor and paramedics were called to help the woman. The incident surprised shelter heads because the distressed worker had not reported to them that she was pregnant. The shelter has taken her in recently.
The Tribune learnt from sources that the woman had earlier confided to an inmate that she was raped by her employer before she absconded and sought refuge at the shelter.
The woman has been reported to be recovering.
Embassy officials will call the woman’s recruitment agency and the employer for questioning
